As Glencore’s issue management advisor, you will identify, track and provide information on issues that are relevant to our business. The role supports the delivery of a strategic approach to detecting and responding to priority issues. You will need to prepare and share analysis on anticipating and assessing changes in the external environment with all levels within the organisation. Through working collaboratively with regional and corporate teams, you will maintain a database of Glencore’s responses to stakeholder enquiries and external engagement activities.

The main tasks and responsibilities include:

• Work with the Senior Manager to develop, maintain and implement Glencore’s issue management strategy

• Support the compilation and maintenance of a list of social, economic, political, regulatory, environmental and technological current and emerging topics

• Conduct research on priority areas

• Monitor potential public policy changes and coordinate internal updates on developments

• Feed into the process of identifying and prioritising issues through establishing and maintaining a comprehensive database of existing, emerging and potential issues

• Collaborate on the development of positions for Glencore to take on key issues

• Contribute to the preparation of supporting materials and briefing papers for use by internal stakeholders

• Inform and engage internal stakeholders on how evolving expectations may impact our ability to do business

• Build an understanding of relevant stakeholder expectations and priorities and monitor the positions they hold

• Maintain a comprehensive database of Glencore’s responses on priority issues to external stakeholders

• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal topic-owners

• Engage with the Corporate Communications function to deliver relevant information that supports development of communication materials

• Five-years work experience, with a track record in analytical and database management skills

• Highly-organised and energetic self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to embrace a diversity of tasks and responsibilities

• Ability to work well under pressure

• Preference for previous work experience in the extractive sector
