Lead Frontend Engineer

As a Lead Frontend Engineer you will play a leading role in projects as we are rewriting our platforms to Typescript and developing new features.

  • Front-End
  • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland
  • 80 employees

About the company

We have been in existence since 2015 and we have grown into the largest Dutch publisher of men’s and sports titles. A position we cherish and are proud of.

With Voetbal International, VoetbalPrimeur.nl and GPblog.com we have unparalleled visibility with our target group, both online and in print. In addition, our in-house Sales and Development teams ensure short and efficient lines within the company, so that we achieve the optimal result every day. You will work in dedicated Undersquare Tech-Team part of the Digital Enterprises company.

Everything we do has the main goal of reaching as many people as possible and providing them with high-quality, relevant content. The editors of our titles understand better than anyone what can best be delivered at what time and – more importantly – how it should be done.

Our goal? Reach and captivate all sports fans. We want pole position, we want the Champions League. If you like sports, be it football or Formula 1, you consume your daily portion of news with us.

The development team of Digital Enterprises (including owner Voetbal International, VoetbalPrimeur and GPblog) is expanding and looking for a Lead Frontend Engineer. We are rewriting our platforms to Typescript (NextJS /React/ TS.ED), but also working on a redesign of GPblog and of course a lot of new other features. As a Lead Frontend Engineer, you will play a leading role in these projects (and relieve the CTO in this).

You will therefore have to be sufficiently familiar with the above technologies, but also be visually oriented and ensure that we deliver (almost) perfect SCSS as a team. Your role as Lead Frontend Engineer does not only focus on your own work, you also actively monitor the rest of the team, provide feedback and make decisions where necessary. Preferably you already have experience with this in a previous role.

With our development team we work at the head office in Amsterdam-Noord, right on the IJ and around the corner from the Foodmarkt and the Oedipus Brewery. The team you work in is a young, dynamic but above all enthusiastic team where pleasure in work is not forgotten. As long as we work in the office, not a day goes by that we don’t play table football.

Our tech team focuses on the maintenance and further development of own titles. As devs, we have a lot of freedom and space for input in this. In addition to the aforementioned titles, we are working on Next Day Media, NoFronts and two new platforms to be launched (more about this during your application). Prepare for high traffic websites: with almost every platform we serve millions of unique visitors per month! How cool is it to see people on the train using what you have made?

Competitive USPS/Summary

  • Unique opportunity to work at the well-known sports blogs and magazines;
  • High traffic platform;
  • Informal compared to other media companies;
  • Everything is being created, developed and deployed in-house;
  • Quarterly
